I woke up this morning with the song, I give myself away, on my mind. I immediately thought of Paul’s words in Romans 12:1. It says for us to present our bodies as living sacrifices to God. It goes on to say that this is our reasonable service. It also is translated as our spiritual act of worship. The word reasonable means that it is something spoken. Our worship spoken out loud and unashamed to our God.
Each day, we should find time to give ourselves back to Him. You may have a particular talent or gift that God has blessed you with. You can use that to glorify your heavenly Father. A lot of times, we think that if I can’t sing or if I am not a musician, that we have nothing to offer to Him. While God does expect those with these musical abilities to use them for HIm, He also expects each of us to give Him something that no one else can. That is ourselves. God doesn’t favor one person over another. He loves us all equally. It’s easy to look at those more gifted than we are and think that God must really like them a lot. But the truth is that is you come humbly to Him, he will not turn you away. All the He asks for is you. You can’t give something that you don’t have or that you can’t control. But you can give Him the gift of you.
Today, make it a point to show/express to God that although you may not be able to sing, play an instrument, speak in front of people, pray eloquently, etc., you do give Him what you can give. Just simply say, God, This is (your name). I give myself away, so You can use me.
Blessings,
Pastor Scott

Last week in class, we discussed that we are first of all born to serve God. That we are supposed to live for Him in complete obedience. This week we are going to talk about the second part of “Why was I Born?”

We were born to glorify God. We do this through praise and worship. Praise can be defined as to give thanks or to boast about. Worship is to lay yourself down or humble yourself before the Lord. While praise is more of a celebration, worship is more of an intimate moment with our Lord.
David said in Psalm 34,”I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise will continually be in my mouth.”
We are to give thanks or boast about the Lord at all times. Constantly through words, often through expression but always through action. God does not need our praise, but He certainly deserves it.
Take time through out this week to intentionally give God the worship, praise and adoration that is due His name. It won’t be hard to find a reason for this. The task will be to make yourself stop your busy schedule and do what needs to be done to cultivate your relationship with God through the intimacy of praise and worship.
